Coping and caring for loved ones with advanced illnesses can be difficult, especially if round-the-clock clinical care and attention is needed. Inpatient hospices can help to provide some relief to you and your loved ones.
What is Inpatient Hospice Care?
Inpatient hospices are facilities that provide a level of care and relief required by patients who are terminally ill, and can help to support families as they cope with the process of grief, death and loss. Patients who seek inpatient hospice care usually have a prognosis of three months or less, and suffer from conditions too difficult for their families to adequately care for.

The services provided by inpatient hospices usually revolve around end-of-life care, which helps to create a peaceful and comfortable environment for patients in the final stages.

How to Apply for Inpatient Hospice Care
A doctor must determine that you or your loved one is suffering from an advanced and progressive disease before you will be able to get a referral from the hospital, polyclinic or clinic that you or your loved one visits. Once you have received a referral, you may request for inpatient hospice care from a service provider listed on the
E-care Locator.
The estimated cost of inpatient hospice care is about $7,000 a month (before the patient undergoes a means-test). If you need help paying for this service, please speak to your service provider or a Medical Social Worker.
