Medication Information Leaflet
Olopatadine belongs to a group of medications called the antihistamines. Antihistamines can be used to relieve symptoms of allergic reactions. It can be used to treat symptoms of eye allergies (allergic conjunctivitis), such as red, itchy eyes and watery eyes.
Apply this medication to the affected eye as recommended by your healthcare professional.

Olopatadine eye drop may be used when required for a short period of time. This means that you do not have to use them if you do not have any symptoms. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember (if needed). However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue the next dose at the usual timing. Do not apply two doses or extra medication to make up for the missed dose.

Like all medicines, this medication may cause some possible side effects but not everyone experiences them. Consult your healthcare professional if any of the side effects lasts more than a few days or become severe and bothersome.
The common side effects of Olopatadine include:
These side effects are mild and will subside after some time. Do not drive or operate any machinery immediately after using the eye drop.
If discomfort continues for more than a few minutes, discontinue the medication, and rinse the affected eye with normal saline eye wash.
If the symptoms are bothersome, do not go away or become worse, stop this eye drop and consult your healthcare professional.

Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep this medication away from children.
Pack this medication into a black trash bag and seal it tightly before throwing into the rubbish chute or bin.
Check the product information leaflet for advice, as some brands recommend discarding 4 weeks after opening, while some recommend discarding 1 month after opening.
