What's Happening to Your Baby?

Baby is now about the size of a large pineapple, and just as sweet. Your baby is between 40 and 48cm long and weighs between 1.7 and 2.1kg. Bones are hardened apart from the softer skull, which needs to be malleable to fit through your birthing canal in a few weeks. Your baby's skin is losing its wrinkles and the immune system is being developed this week.

What's Happening to You?

Some women experience an increased libido around this time. The good news is that sex is perfectly safe as long as your doctor has given you the green light. Some mums-to-be may be experiencing greater fluid retention, back pain, constipation, sleep deprivation and general discomfort. Communicate these to your partner and doctor, who can give you support and medications. Stay strong and rest up — these symptoms will likely alleviate after your delivery!
