Korang Ok? - Date Cake

Ingredients

  • Dates, 1 cup (pitted)
  • HCS cooking oil, 1 cup
  • Sugar, 1 cup
  • HCS wholegrain wheat flour, 2 cups
  • HCS eggs, 3
  • Baking powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Bicarbonate soda, 1 teaspoon
  • Vanilla essence, 1 teaspoon

Method

  • Step 1: Pit the dates. Chop half loosely and set the other half aside for blending.
  • Step 2: Pour the oil, eggs, sugar, vanilla essence, and half of the dates into a blender. Blend until it forms a smooth paste.
  • Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, bicarbonate soda, and baking powder. Once combined, add the blended paste and stir until well incorporated.
  • Step 4: Pour the mixture into a baking pan. Sprinkle the loosely chopped dates on top.
  • Step 5: Place the pan in a steamer on high heat and steam for 1 hour.
  • Step 6: Once done, let the cake cool before serving.
